Xmas Tree: A Quick Camera Comparison

I promised a picture of the xmas tree. Of course, it's indoors and somewhat in a dark location, in front of a window, and with lights on it. That's the perfect target to confuse automatic settings on cameras.

The following are with a Motorola V710 1.2 megapixel cameraphone, an LG VX7000 VGA (0.3 megapixel) cameraphone, a Canon Digital Rebel (aka 300D) 6 megapixel SLR camera, and a Canon 20D 8 megapixel SLR. No tripod was used. ISO on the SLRs was set to 800 so as not to give too big of a disadvantage to the Rebel.

The cameras were held rotated 90 degrees, so all flash light was coming from the side.

Motorola V710, no flash, 1/21

LG VX7000, no flash

Canon Digital Rebel, no flash, 1/50 @ f/4.5

Canon 20D, no flash, 1/40 @ f/4.0

Canon Digital Rebel, built-in flash, 1/60 @ f/4

Canon 20D, built-in flash, 1/60 @ f/4

Canon Digital Rebel, 580EX facing foward, 1/60 @ f/4

Canon 20D, 580EX facing forward, 1/60 @ f/4

Canon Digital Rebel, 580EX at about 45 degrees, 1/60 @ f/4

Canon 20D, 580EX at about 45 degrees, 1/60 @ f/4

Canon Digital Rebel, 580EX full back (or "up"), 1/60 @ f/4

Canon 20D, 580EX full back (or "up"), 1/60 @ f/4

That's all. Enjoy.
