This gives me some ideas [Apple iPod Shuffle RAID]
I've got two 256MB USB 2.0 memory keys. I don't really know how fast they are individually, but they'd easily each fit on a CardBus USB 2.0 adapter. In this configuration, they should both get a reasonable amount of speed. I don't know what the CardBus limit is, or how far above (or below) it is compared to the USB 2.0 480 Mbps theoretical limit. Nor do I know the actualy read/write speed of the memory keys, which is probably no where near the limit (considering the fastest of the high speed compact flash cards aren't anywhere near the limit, either).
In any case, it should, in theory, give enough headroom it improve overall flash card performance with striping, which WinXP can easily do with software, too. Of course, it's not only a bit kludgy but also quite bulky and not all that portable. But at least it wouldn't render an MP3 player unusable. ;)
It's too bad it could never be a boot device since the OS has to be up and running to make it available as a RAID...
