DHL Really is Bad

I can't even count how many times I've had very bad shipping experiences with DHL.  From claims of items being in warehouses and having to wait for them yet the people not being able to find them to many, many late deliveries.

This latest, though, is quite amusing even though my box arrived two days late on two day shipping.  It was supposed to arrive last Wednesday. However, I was quite busy last Wednesday so I went home.  Then I realized that I didn't get my Amazon prime shipment.

I got on to Amazon and the status was set to something to the effect that they tried the delivery but no one was home. Well, this was to a business address.  The time of attempt was at 4:00pm.  It was too late to call then (for me, if not also for DHL).

The next day, I went on the DHL's site to get their status and call them if it wasn't out for delivery.  Turns out, the status there was then listed as "address needed."  This meant I needed to call them because the driver was complaining that the street address was missing from the package.  Highly unlikely since I'd used that address selection before on Amazon.

Anyway, I had to call them up.  They took down the address and said it would come Friday.  That's now two whole days late for a two day shipping speed.

IMG_0032You can see in this first picture that they did, indeed, handwrite an address on to the package.  That's the pink sticker on it.  You can also see that it matches the address on the label.  I'm sure the guys at the warehouse didn't find this all that amusing.

IMG_0033 I'm sure of this because of this second picture. Here, you can see that there is a Mapquest printout of the location of the address nicely taped to the back of the Amazon box. Now, I'm told that the driver who actually delivered the package was not the one who needed the help and was basically calling the first driver an idiot.  However, it did make it out without any trouble.

Has anyone seen this sort of thing before?  It's really quite silly and funny.  However, had I really been waiting for the package, I would have been far more upset than I was.  As it is, there was food in the package.  Luckily, nothing perishable; it was actually bunny food. ;)

Ever since that one time they held my new digital SLR hostage at their central facility and I had to camp out at the desk for over an hour while people "went in the back" to check and then drove away in the parking lot and never came back, I've not really felt much like using their services.

I have not had that kind of bad service with USPS, UPS or FEDEX. Generally, they do exactly what they say they will. Yes, there is the occasional issue, but generally they are on-time, on-target and always courteous.
