Disc Required to Sync iPhone!?

image So, I'm now having some strange trouble syncing my iPhone.  The first dialog, as can be seen, might imply that the device is hung or something.  It's not; all of the apps are responsive still.  The second dialog that comes up, though, is a but funnier.

imageYes, you're seeing that right!  The disc can't be found.  One might be inclined to ask, "What disc?"

Resetting the iPhone itself made no difference.  Restarting iTunes seems to have made it so that the iPhone won't appear when it's plugged in.  There is still access to the photos, of course.

Rebooting, of course, solved the problem.  Given the memory use of the iTunesHelper process now compared to before the reboot, I think it had hung or had some other problem.  Still, a bit annoying and the error dialogs that came in pairs were completely unhelpful.

UPDATEE: Good thing this wasn't an ongoing issue since v1.0.1 of the firmware came out ... and is now on my phone!

My Apple iPhone Discoveries

So, one of my first discoveries you'll see in the little Google Photos Flash thing.  Every single thing is completely covered with plastic when you pull it out of the box!  This makes a huge pile of plastic.  The strange part is that none of the corners are covered.  Aren't the corners most prone to problems?

Anyway, that's a bit silly. The useful stuff follows...

Sprint Navigation: Too Many Failures

So, having had the Samsung UpStage for a few months now, I've certainly tried to use the Sprint Navigation application on it a few times.  All attempts have been both useless and extremely frustrating. I'll compare this to using the Google Maps widget on the Apple iPhone.

The LG Muziq (aka LX570) from Sprint

So, Sprint is at it again with their Ambassador program, sending out some more handsets.  This one, strangely, basically replaces the Samsung UpStage.  Although the service was supposed to go a bit longer on that, it's being terminated. I'm not terribly upset by this, though.  The LG Muziq is, from what I can tell, a superior handset in many ways.

It is not my intention of this post to be a full review, however.  I think I'll be able to get to that, just not right now. The above Flash thing will show a number of images of the phone and comparison with other phones, such as the LG VX9800 (aka The V), the Samsung UpStage, and the Apple iPhone.

Harry Potter and the Case of the Early (?) UPS Delivery

So, I can't figure out what's going on. Amazon, who guarantees delivery of the Deathly Hallows today, shows that we'll get getting our book by UPS.

Checking the package tracking, however, shows that it was delivered. Yesterday. At 8:41am. To "the front desk." By an unknown name.

Uhhhhhh....

First off, we don't have a front desk at our house. Second off, there is no way they were supposed to deliver Friday. Thirdly, we didn't get a package yesterday of any kind.

What's going on with this? Other blogs are showing that they are tracking the package normally.

I don't get it. Maybe we should have gone out last night after the audio CDs, afterall.

Or maybe we'll not be getting it today and Amazon will have to refund our money.

Erf.

UPDATE:

So, I found out what happened with this order.  As it turns out, Amazon shipped the book Wednesday via two-day UPS shipping to the local post office.  The shipping label then had instructions for the local post office to deliver it to us.  Since it's our post office, they would deliver the next day.  That day was Saturday; yesterday.  Yes, it did come on time.  That's all I'm going to say about it, though. ;)
